Albert Protopopov studies the Quaternary history of vegetation in Eastern Siberia. He also manages and organizes expeditions to search for mummies of extinct animals in the permafrost deposits of Yakutia, both for scientific research and to add to the museum collections and exhibits of the Yakutian Republic.
