Global Wildlife Conservation

Barney Long is the Director of Species Conservation at Global Wildlife Conservation. His focus is the conservation of critically endangered species and the thematic approaches required to achieve recovery of functional populations including protected area management and the prevention of poaching. He has worked extensively on Saola, Sumatran and Javan rhino, Tiger, Gibbons, Doucs, and a host of other species across the world. He has worked on the Saola since 1999 co-authoring the Vietnam National Saola Conservation Action Plan, helping establish two Saola conservation areas, and establishing anti-poaching approaches for the species. He is the current Chair of the IUCN Species Survival Commission’s Saola Working Group Steering Committee.
